Based in Mumbai, Chaitanya is responsible for steering one of the bank’s most critical business lines, driving strategy, client engagement, and sustainable growth in the highly competitive financial services sector.
A Distinguished Career at Standard Chartered
Chaitanya’s journey at Standard Chartered spans more than 16 years, making him a cornerstone of the bank’s growth in India’s transaction banking and securities services landscape. Prior to his current role, he served as Executive Director, Head Securities Services India, Transaction Banking (2017 – 2025). In this capacity, he oversaw end-to-end business strategy, revenue generation, and leadership across sales, product management, client servicing, and implementation functions. He also took on sales responsibilities for associated cash management businesses catering to financial institutions and investor segments.
From 2009 to 2017, Chaitanya held the position of Executive Director, Transaction Banking & Head I&I Securities Services Sales, India, where he successfully built and led the India Sales team for securities services. Under his leadership, Standard Chartered strengthened its market presence in custody, fund accounting, and equity derivative clearing services, while significantly expanding client acquisition and retention.

As Vice President, Market Specialist – Securities and Fund Services (2006 – 2009), he managed custody sales for a portfolio of key foreign inflow clients across intermediaries and investors, strengthening Citi’s reputation as a trusted market leader.
Earlier, as Vice President/Assistant VP, Relationship Manager – Global Subsidiary Group Clients (2004 – 2006), he played a critical role in relationship management, delivering solutions tailored to multinational corporations. He also gained invaluable operational expertise as Manager, Branch Transaction Banking Operations (2002 – 2004) in Vadodara, managing trade operations and guarantee issuance for large corporate and commercial banking clients.
His early years at Citi also included a secondment to e-Serve International (Citigroup Global Services), where he contributed to business development, branding initiatives, and managed the centralized foreign currency remittances desk. This combination of client-facing, operational, and strategic roles laid the foundation for his future leadership trajectory.
