Ambrish Singh Appointed as Head – IT Governance at SK Finance Ltd

Strengthening Technology Governance, Risk Management, Compliance, and Digital Transformation

SK Finance Ltd has appointed Ambrish Singh as Head – IT Governance, marking a significant progression in his career spanning technology governance, IT risk management, technology transformation, information technology, outsourcing governance, and regulatory compliance.

Based in Mumbai, Singh takes on a strategic leadership mandate focused on establishing and strengthening IT governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes across the organization. His responsibilities include overseeing technology risk, IT audits, regulatory compliance, transformation initiatives, outsourcing engagements, and technology-related governance in collaboration with business and control functions.

With more than two decades of experience across financial services, insurance, banking, technology services, and software, Singh brings a broad technology leadership perspective to his new role. His career reflects a progressive transition from software development and technology consulting to senior responsibilities in IT risk, technology change, governance, and enterprise technology oversight.

Building a Strong IT Governance Framework at SK Finance

At SK Finance Ltd, Singh is responsible for establishing and managing comprehensive IT governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes, ensuring that technology practices remain aligned with business objectives and evolving regulatory requirements.

A key part of his mandate is the development and oversight of the organization’s IT risk management framework. This involves identifying, tracking, reporting, and mitigating technology risks across the enterprise while strengthening the organization’s overall technology control environment.

Singh will also oversee internal and external IT audits, working toward timely closure of audit observations and ensuring that regulatory reporting obligations are appropriately addressed.

His role extends into technology transformation as well, where he will govern major IT initiatives and programs to ensure that they remain aligned with business priorities, risk expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Another important area of responsibility is IT outsourcing governance. Singh will oversee service contracts, vendor performance, and third-party technology relationships, ensuring that outsourcing arrangements meet corporate standards and regulatory expectations.

His responsibilities require close collaboration across IT, risk, business units, compliance, information security, and external regulators, positioning IT governance as an enterprise-wide discipline rather than a standalone technology function.

Advancing Technology Risk Management at Unity Small Finance Bank

Before joining SK Finance, Singh served as Lead – Technology Risk & Governance at Unity Small Finance Bank from June 2024 to May 2026.

Based in Navi Mumbai, his role focused on reviewing the organization’s technology stack, technology risk, and outsourcing risk.

This experience strengthened his understanding of technology governance within the banking environment, where effective risk oversight, regulatory alignment, third-party controls, and resilient technology infrastructure are critical to maintaining operational continuity and stakeholder confidence.

His exposure to technology risk within a financial institution provided a strong foundation for his subsequent move into an enterprise-level IT governance leadership role.

Leading Technology Change and Risk Management at IDFC FIRST Bank

Singh previously spent more than two years with IDFC FIRST Bank, serving as Lead – Technology Change & Risk Management from December 2021 to June 2024.

In this role, he worked at the intersection of technology transformation, risk management, governance, and business change.

His experience included Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) and project management, reflecting an increasingly strategic orientation toward managing technology change while maintaining appropriate governance and risk controls.

The role further strengthened his experience in navigating complex technology programs and ensuring that organizational change is supported by appropriate risk management and governance mechanisms.

Building Technology Leadership at Canara HSBC Life Insurance

A major chapter in Singh’s career was his extensive tenure with Canara HSBC Oriental Bank of Commerce Life Insurance Company, where he spent more than a decade progressing through increasingly senior technology roles.

He served as Assistant Vice President from April 2021 to December 2021, following five years as Senior Manager – Information Technology from May 2016 to April 2021.

During his tenure as Senior Manager, his experience included areas such as project planning and disaster recovery, providing exposure to technology resilience and operational preparedness within the insurance sector.

Earlier, Singh served as Manager – Information Technology, building a strong foundation in enterprise technology operations, middleware, and stakeholder management.

His long tenure within the organization demonstrates his ability to grow alongside increasingly complex technology responsibilities and develop a comprehensive understanding of technology operations within a regulated financial-services environment.

Early Technology and Consulting Experience

Singh began his professional journey as a Software Programmer at InterAmerica Software Solution Integration, where he spent nearly three years developing his technical foundation.

He subsequently moved into project and consulting roles, serving as Technical Project Lead at CMC Ltd. His responsibilities and experience during this phase helped strengthen his exposure to system integration testing, project execution, and customer engagement.

Singh then joined Satyam Computer Services Ltd. as a Consultant, where he worked across technology and client-facing responsibilities in Delhi and Bengaluru.

He also spent a brief period with HCL Infosystems Ltd. as a Consultant, further expanding his consulting and technology-services experience.

These early roles provided the technical and project-management foundation that would later support his transition into enterprise technology leadership, governance, and risk management.

From Technology Delivery to Enterprise Governance

Singh’s career journey reflects a broader evolution within modern technology leadership.

Beginning with software programming and technical project leadership, he progressively expanded his expertise into consulting, enterprise IT, technology operations, disaster recovery, technology change, risk management, outsourcing risk, and governance.

This progression has positioned him to understand technology from multiple perspectives–from implementation and operational execution to risk, compliance, governance, and strategic oversight.

His experience across banking and insurance is particularly relevant to his current mandate, where technology governance must balance innovation and business agility with regulatory expectations, operational resilience, cybersecurity considerations, and effective risk controls.

Strengthening Technology Resilience and Compliance

As financial-services organizations increasingly depend on technology for customer experiences, business operations, data management, and regulatory reporting, robust IT governance has become a critical component of enterprise strategy.

Singh’s mandate at SK Finance comes at a time when organizations must manage increasingly complex technology ecosystems while maintaining strong controls around IT risk, third-party relationships, regulatory compliance, audits, data, security, and operational resilience.

His experience across technology risk and governance positions him to contribute to these priorities through structured frameworks, disciplined oversight, and stronger collaboration between technology and business stakeholders.

A Strategic Leadership Mandate for the Next Phase

The appointment of Ambrish Singh as Head – IT Governance at SK Finance Ltd. represents the culmination of a career that has steadily evolved from hands-on technology roles into enterprise-level governance and risk leadership.

From his early career in software programming and technical project management to consulting roles and more than a decade in insurance technology, Singh has progressively broadened his expertise. His subsequent leadership positions at IDFC FIRST Bank and Unity Small Finance Bank further deepened his capabilities in technology change, risk, governance, and outsourcing oversight.

At SK Finance, Singh is positioned to bring these experiences together to strengthen the organization’s technology governance architecture and support responsible digital and technology-led growth.

His focus on IT governance, risk management, audit, regulatory alignment, transformation governance, outsourcing oversight, and stakeholder collaboration reflects the changing role of technology leaders within modern financial institutions.

As Head – IT Governance, Singh is poised to contribute to building a technology environment that is not only efficient and innovative but also controlled, resilient, compliant, and aligned with business priorities.
